Energy efficiency is a fast-growing field with new opportunities created each and every day – and we love talking about it! Cascade recently collaborated with the National Society of Black Engineers to host an Energy Efficiency Professional Development Event. Held in our Portland office, the evening included educational panels, success stories and valuable networking.
This was an exciting evening of connection and conversation, focused on the topic of “Careers in Energy Efficiency” with industry partners Vim Pacific, Energy Trust of Oregon, and Burch Energy. Additionally, it provided great opportunities for students, future engineers, and folks interested in energy efficiency to learn more about what roles are out there.
Elin Shepard from Energy Trust of Oregon gave an illuminating presentation on ETO’s New Buildings Program. Jessica Arnold from Vim Pacific did a fantastic job answering the question “Who pays for energy efficiency?”.
CEO David Burchfield offered insight into his journey launching Burch Energy in early 2020. And our very own Jinsy Oommen led an enlightening discussion on how software can help people save energy.
Each speaker also answered questions about their career experiences and offered advice to folks interested in energy efficiency professional development. Presenters and participants conversed on the exciting future of EE. All in all, it was a fantastic evening!
A big thank you to NSBE PDX, our awesome vendors (Miss’ippi Chef, Abbey Creek Winery, and Blackstreet Bakery), and all those who attended.
