Back in 2008, Cascade collaborated with one of our utility clients to design and launch a new program offering to address a lack of participation by smaller industrial and agricultural customers. We saw small project implementation skyrocket from fewer than 30 a year in 2007 to 700 projects per year by 2016. The projects used a mix of deemed measures and calculator-based analysis. We continually added new measures throughout the program’s implementation.

Fourteen years later, our delivery of this program resulted in over 6,000 completed projects through working with more than 3,200 customers and 560 vendors. Through our outreach efforts, we developed a statewide network of organizations including growers, vendors, industry groups, and irrigation districts who contributed to the program’s success.

The lessons we learned through delivering this program helped us design and launch four additional programs and pilots for smaller customers in California, Idaho, and British Columbia, Canada.
