IAC Implementation Grants

January 31, 2024

We are excited to announce that we have been qualified by the U.S. Department of Energy as a provider of Industrial Assessment Centers (IAC)-equivalent assessments!

The IACs have performed no-cost technical energy assessments for small- and medium-sized manufacturers for over 45 years. Now, through the IAC Implementation Grants Program, recipients of assessments from the Centers, Combined Heat and Power/Onsite Energy TAPs, and qualified assessors like us can apply for grants of up to $300,000 (with a one-to-one match) to implement assessment project recommendations.

Who is eligible?

IAC Implementation Grants are available exclusively to small- and medium-sized manufacturing firms (SMM), but who qualifies?

The DOE has defined an SMM as a manufacturer, including water and wastewater treatment facilities with:

  • Gross annual sales less than $100M
  • Under 500 employees at the facility site
  • Annual energy bills of more than $100,000 but less than $3.5M

To be eligible for the IAC Implementation Grant, SMMs must have completed an energy assessment by:

  • An Industrial Assessment Center (IAC)
  • A CHP TAP or Onsite Energy TAPs (if you are in the Upper West territory, that’s us!)
  • An eligible third-party assessor (also us!)

From the completed energy assessment, any recommended measures with the following objectives may be covered by the grant:

  • Improvements to site energy and / or material efficiency
  • Improvements to site cybersecurity infrastructure
  • Improvements to site productivity
  • Reductions in site waste production
  • Reductions in site greenhouse gas emissions and / or non-greenhouse gas pollutions
