Portland, Oregon: Cascade Energy, Inc. announces the appointment of a new board member, Jennifer McFarlane.
Prior to the addition of the first two independent board members in 2022, Cascade Energy’s board was entirely composed of internal members. The decision to bring on a third independent board member fulfills the ESOP purchase agreement provisions by which Cascade became 100% employee owned. The provisions laid out an increase in the size of the Board to seven directors by November of 2023, three of which were to be independent. (“Independent” is defined as excluding current and former employees; family of current or former employees; or anyone who has received compensation from the company within 12 months.)
We began the search for the third director in early 2023, consulting with professional experts in training and placing directors, and called on our networks. “We have benefited greatly from the addition of independent directors, and we are delighted to welcome another member to the board. The different backgrounds and perspectives they bring, along with a wealth of experience and knowledge are invaluable,” says Dan Brown, CEO.
Jennifer McFarlane is an independent director, with experience on six corporate boards in the climate, energy, and health tech sectors. She has served as Chair of Audit committees, is an Audit Financial Expert, and holds an ESG Global Competent Boards Designation (GCB.D). Jennifer brings strategic vision, insights on technology-driven transformation and global scaling, and financial savvy derived from her twenty years as a CFO in public and private companies such as NEXTracker (NXT) and LanzaTech (LNZA).
