PORTLAND, OR – Cascade Energy proudly celebrates the 15th anniversary of the Energy Smart Industrial (ESI) program, which it delivers in partnership with the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA). ESI offers a comprehensive range of programs in the Pacific Northwest, including support for Custom Projects, Strategic Energy Management, and Energy Project Managers. The program has been recognized twice as an “Exemplary Program” by the American Council for Energy Efficiency.
This enduring partnership highlights Cascade’s significant impact on the industrial sector and emphasizes the crucial role it plays in supporting industries across the Pacific Northwest to improve their energy efficiency. The program has been instrumental in helping businesses grow and remain competitive, while also assisting both utilities and industries in achieving the region’s ambitious energy conservation goals.
“The ESI l program has transformed how industries view and manage their energy consumption,” said Jamae Hilliard Creecy, BPA’s Vice President of Energy Efficiency. “Over the past 15 years, BPA has enabled utilities to build strong, long-term relationships with their key industrial-end users, paving the way for sustained energy savings and operational improvements with facilities. Energy Efficiency staff working closely with the program’s implementation contractors, provide utilities and industries the necessary technical expertise and project support that’s essential to ESI’s overall success.”
Over the last 15 years, Energy Smart Industrial has delivered remarkable outcomes through its comprehensive offerings. ESI has successfully completed more than 7,000 projects, generating energy savings of over 240 average megawatts (aMW), equivalent to 2,100 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of first-year energy savings—enough to power more than 175,000 Northwest homes. This substantial achievement has translated into more than $850 million in cumulative avoided costs for regional industries. The program’s reach extends across seven states, where over 1,800 industrial sites have not only reduced their energy consumption but also enhanced their operational efficiency, reliability, and sustainability.
Dan Brown, CEO of Cascade Energy, commended the ESI Program and its ability to offer a range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of BPA’s utilities and the industrial sector. “We’re thrilled to have been BPA’s partner in designing and delivering this program from the very start. It’s been amazing to see the incredible results we’ve achieved together for the industries in the Northwest,” said Brown. “At Cascade Energy, we’re looking forward to continuing our journey in creating innovative energy efficiency solutions that will support BPA in meeting its future resource needs. Our mission is to bring lasting value to the fantastic utilities and industries in the Pacific Northwest.”
