Pam Birkel leads Cascade’s SEM Programs, responsible for uniting SEM Specialists, Coaches, and Engineers as they deliver energy and greenhouse gas reductions. The SEM group serves industrial and commercial facilities across the country, for utility and corporate direct clients.
Pam joined Cascade in 2014 as SEM Coordinator and since then has sat in every seat on the SEM team, excelling in creating curriculum content, delivering SEM programs, managing budgets, and heading up SEM innovation. She has authored a paper on the challenge of building energy models for progressive, agile, and growing SEM participants for ACEEE, and another on SEM as a Pathway to Decarbonization for the Northwest SEM Collaborative.
Pam’s eclectic interests include philately, duck hunting, mountaineering, and architecture. She used to like to run in Forest Park in Portland until her knees told her to stop doing that. Her favorite pastime is working in her Portland garden alongside her husband John and their dogs Crumpet and Geyser.
