Director of Water and Wastewater Customer Engagement
Layne McWilliams is Cascade’s resident expert and chief evangelist in the water and wastewater sector. In his role, he leads our efforts to connect with operators, engineers, managers, and vendors to identify energy-efficiency opportunities within municipal infrastructure and “move the needle!” on energy consumption. His fun and engaging presentation style makes him an effective coach and mentor to our customers’ energy teams as well as Cascade’s internal team of water/wastewater experts.
Layne started his career as a field engineer on a large wastewater construction project and was involved in the design, construction, and start-up of water and wastewater infrastructure for 15 years. In his work for Cascade today, he feels he is atoning for the energy sins he committed as a designer since the industry has only recently made energy efficiency a priority.

Between jokes about lawyers and references to poop, Layne believes there is never a reason not to smile. As his wife and kids will attest, it doesn’t stop at work either. He and his family reside in north Idaho where they enjoy the lakes, the mountains, the people, and yes, indoor plumbing.
