Are your demand response programs stuck on the drawing board?
With 30 years of large energy user expertise and the tools to match, we can ensure your programs shift and shed load when it matters most.
In today's energy landscape, it's not just about meeting demand; it's about shaping it responsibly. Integrating demand response solutions into your energy efficiency programs will allow you to cost effectively reduce peak demand and improve system reliability by engaging customers with comprehensive solutions.
Why utilities choose our C&I DR programs
- Manage peak loads with precision
- Recruit the right target customers
- Identify appropriate DR opportunities for large C&I customers
- Engage large customers in meaningful ways
- Robust M&V process compliance
By thinking of energy efficiency and demand management as teammates in cost-effective peak load management, your customers can receive a more holistic program offering while ensuring you maximize your system reliability without maximizing the cost to do so.
We will help you build relationships with the customers in your territory that can make a real difference in your load profile. By starting with energy efficiency and energy management, your customers will learn how they use energy and build the trust that is required to make lasting operational changes.
From Enrollment to Performance
We support program success at every step:
- Targeted recruitment of high-potential sites
- Onboarding and training that prepares customers
- Test events and simulations to ensure reliability
- Event execution and post-event analysis
- Performance tracking and continuous improvement
Demand Response can be complicated. Your path to success is not.
Our trifecta: trust, engagement, and change-management.
Through designing and implementing non-residential DSM programs for over 20 years, we bring experience building trust within commercial and industrial companies, facilitating organizational change management practices, and helping build positive relationships between customers and their utility. Effective DR programs require all of that: trust in Cascade, a positive relationship with you, and lasting transformation. Put us in, coach.
Pioneers in EE+DR integration.
Over the past 15 years, we have collaborated with our utility clients in the Pacific Northwest, California, and Colorado to pilot ideas and conduct research into integrating energy efficiency and demand flexibility. The magic of an efficiency-first approach is the ability to look for more permanent load shifting, creating a more stable grid impact.
The tools to make it happen.
Our energy management platform Gazebo™ was designed to tackle the challenges of complex energy management programs at scale. Its data modeling, tracking, reporting, and visualization capabilities keep stakeholders informed, productive, and aligned with access to standardized data across all sites, all at once, all in one place.
Put Your DR Portfolio to Work
Build a demand response program that earns trust and delivers when it counts. We’ll help you get the megawatts—and the customer loyalty.
Customer Success Spotlights
It’s EM to DM.
As part of their engagement with a utility energy management program in California, a small manufacturer and their Cascade coaching team mapped the energy consumption of their equipment in Gazebo. They have a time-of-day rate schedule, but their operations staff weren’t aware they were being charged more for energy used during peak times. Most of the time at industrial facilities, there is a big gap between the person the utility sends a price signal to and the people operating the energy-using equipment — those who can change when they’re using that energy.
In the figure below, the top chart shows this facility wasn’t modifying its production to reduce energy use during the dark blue peak times. The Cascade energy coach provided more information, so they could see how much more they paid during those peak periods. This information and the visualization of where they could run instead (see Sunday and Saturday evenings in the upper chart) empowered the facility to decide an operational shift would be worthwhile. The result is the bottom chart, which shows they now turn off a large piece of equipment during the peak periods. Today, the facility incorporates this practice into their standard operating procedure. Our relationship with this customer through the utility energy efficiency program and the data visualization provided in Gazebo allowed Cascade to successfully create this long-term demand shift. By providing helpful data in a digestible way and bringing an understanding of the facility’s goals and their industrial systems, the coaching team was able to help this facility implement a change that makes them more cost effective while also benefiting the grid and their utility.
