North American Meat Institute Honors Cascade Energy

Cascade is honored to receive a 2017 Industry Advancement Award from the North American Meat Institute. The Institute annually awards an individual or company whose contributions and innovations have positively affected the meat and poultry industry. Cascade is being recognized for its commitment to environmental sustainability by providing innovative energy management solutions to the industry.

Barry Carpenter, President and CEO of the Institute, states, “Cascade Energy has tapped into the increasing demand from our nation’s meat and poultry companies to optimize their energy consumption to reduce costs and at the same time, reduce negative impacts on the environment through reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. Cascade’s innovative management system software has positively impacted many businesses by allowing them to identify specific sources of energy efficiency through real-time, plant operation data analysis.”

Since its founding in 1993, Cascade has helped more than 120 facilities in the meat, seafood, and poultry industries implement energy-efficiency solutions, including strategic energy management, training, capital projects, and Cascade’s energy management collaboration software, SENSEI®. OSI Industries, a Cascade corporate energy-management client since 2013, nominated Cascade for this industry award. Cascade has worked with seven of OSI’s facilities to help them become more efficient users of energy, especially with regards to each plant’s refrigeration systems. As of December 2016, OSI had saved a combined total of 20 million kWh, the equivalent of 1,850 home’s electricity use for a full year. Most recently, Cascade and OSI have begun optimizing gas usage at several OSI facilities.

Cascade is honored to have been able to help OSI make their energy-reduction efforts prosper and will  accept this award on April 18, 2018, at the Meat Institute’s annual spring conference in San Antonio, Texas.
